Terms for the CHAOS public alpha.
Plain language, written for an alpha product. These terms apply to your use of CHAOS and the LOS technology behind it. Read them together with the Privacy Notice.
Some things a mature product states here — a company entity, a registered address, a governing jurisdiction, a formal complaints route — are not yet established for CHAOS. Rather than invent them, this page leaves them out and will be completed when they exist.
1. This is public alpha software
CHAOS, and the LOS (Living Operating Systems) technology it runs on, are in public alpha. That means the product is genuinely early: parts of it are still being built, and behaviour you rely on today may work differently tomorrow.
By creating an account you accept that you are using pre-release software and that it may contain defects.
2. The service may change
Features may be added, changed, renamed or removed during the alpha. Limits on what an account can do — including how many projects can be active at once — may change as capacity changes.
Where a change materially affects how you use your projects, we will aim to say so in the product rather than let you discover it by failure.
3. Availability is not guaranteed
There is no uptime commitment, service level agreement or guaranteed response time during the alpha. The service may be unavailable, slow, or interrupted, planned or otherwise.
Individual requests to your intelligence can also fail or time out. When that happens the failed attempt is not written into your project history, and you can try again.
4. You remain responsible for your decisions
CHAOS produces reasoning, research summaries, knowledge and suggestions. These are working material, not professional advice, and they can be incomplete or wrong.
You are responsible for any decision, action, publication or omission based on output from CHAOS. Verify anything that matters — the product deliberately shows evidence and confidence so that you can.
5. Your content and data
You are responsible for what you put into CHAOS: the text you write, the material you submit, and the memory and knowledge your projects accumulate from it.
Do not submit content you have no right to submit, and do not submit information that must not leave your organisation without checking that first. Submitting content to a project means it is processed by the service in order to run the product, as described in the Privacy Notice.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use CHAOS to break the law, to attack or interfere with the service or its infrastructure, to bypass access controls, authorisation or project isolation, to gain access to another account's projects, memory or knowledge, to attempt to extract other users' content, to submit malicious code, or to place automated load on the service beyond normal product use.
You must not use CHAOS to generate or distribute material that harms others, and you must not misrepresent the output of the service as verified fact when it has not been verified.
7. Suspension and termination
An account may be paused or closed if it is used in the ways described above, if it puts the security or integrity of the service or other users at risk, or if it is required to protect the service during the alpha.
You may stop using CHAOS at any time. Ownership of what you built is described in section 8.
8. Intellectual property, at a basic level
You keep the rights you already hold in the content you submit and in the project intelligence built from it. Nothing here transfers ownership of your content to us. Ownership does not currently include a self-service export: that capability does not exist yet during Public Alpha.
We keep the rights in CHAOS and LOS themselves: the software, the interfaces, the names and the underlying system. You are granted permission to use the service during the alpha, not rights in the software.
To operate the product we need permission to process, store and transmit your content for that purpose — for example to keep your project's memory, run research, produce reasoning, and share knowledge with the people you explicitly choose.
9. Alpha access and future paid service
Public Alpha access is invite-only and granted at our discretion. Billing is not active yet, so approved alpha users are not charged during the current testing phase. Nothing on this site is currently an offer to sell, and no payment obligation is created by using the alpha as it stands today.
Commercial plans will follow before broader public access. They will be presented separately and clearly, and continued use after that point will depend on the terms published at the time.
10. Disclaimer and limitation appropriate to an alpha
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of output, or uninterrupted operation.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or opportunity, or for loss of data arising from your use of pre-release software. Self-service data export is not yet available during Public Alpha, so keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms will change as the product leaves alpha. The current version is always the one published on this page, and continuing to use CHAOS after a change means the current version applies to your use.
